Kingdom of Something Week2-

My 24th Midsummer in Berlin is so Swedish in berlin.

Although I am working in Berlin, actually I am in a Swedish studio!! Look at my keyboard~ I just got used to the France keyboard which has swap A and Q; however, now I am using the Swedish keyboard which has these cute letters. Because of this, I know more about Swedish culture. For example, the Midsummer, a weekend is very important for them. Two colleagues even went back to Sweden. So this week is a little bit chill for me! Hey, doesn’t mean I was fully on vacation, I still learned a lot.

Lunch time

As a Taiwanese who always care about food. (!?Perhaps many people curious about what I eat in the studio. I will say I eat too good here.(Look at my face then you will know.) I prepared the Taiwanese lunch the on Tuesday for my colleagues. I cooked some fried instant noodles, fried dumplings, fried Oyster mushroom and garlic with soy sauce, Dry tofu, and sweet potato with caramel (All Vegan! ) But I didn’t prepare enough ingredient, so it’s not enough for five people XD. Still is a nice exchange culture experience. The next day, the colleagues cooked the “Swedish-style Mexican tacos.”I’m not sure which part is Swedish, but they are super delicious!XD

Work Together

The environment of the studio is very good. I feel I am in a great team. We have a routine meeting every Monday. Not only talking about what happens during the weekend, we will also overview the progress of every project. Maxwell said: One of the main goals is to create their atmosphere at work that helps people to do better, feel comfortable at work and above all feel like a strong part of the team.

However, I have to say, though this has been my second week in this studio, I was still looking for order and my position. I spent more time than before to adapt. I will say is because the workflow is pretty different from Taiwan. In the past, I worked in a vertical way. Account, designer and animator, we followed the order. But in our studio, everyone has the ability to work independently. So everyone can be animator or designer, even contacting the client. I am so curious if this is okay with the result. Marcus answer made me very profound. He said, “Everyone should have the ability to communicate with the client. After all, Communication is one of the most important skills of the designer.” Can’t agree more.

TOA

We also participated in the TOA conference. In fact, I was very reluctant about this at first. Well, after listened to some great speeches. I became really enjoy this event. Culture, Feminist, Future…these topic are really interesting. (I will write one more blog about these) But what made me most impressive was that we looking for a free beer so hard we get some cases through building the conversations with people.

Et oui, I spent my twenty-fourth Midsummer in Germany and went to a Swedish summer party in Berlin with my Taiwanese friends. It’s really amazing. Berlin is such an international city. Sometimes when I am in the metro, nobody speaks German. And I watch the people on the train and thinking that all of them carry they own dreams and come to this foreign city to start a new journey. Just like me, then I feel not that lonely.
